Here’s a treat: a slideshow of 94 cartoons by Bruce Petty (once you’ve gone to the new page, scroll down to Mr. Petty’s name, and click). Petty’s work appeared in The New Yorker for a decade (1959-69). I’ve always (graphically) linked Mr. Petty’s work with Niculae Asciu and Dean Vietor’s — highly energetic lines, as close to animated cartoons as you can get without actual animation.
